DSL Service for Oregon and Washington - so fast you can feel the connection.

Q: What is DSL technology?

A: DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line, a technology that brings high bandwidth (fast connections) to homes and businesses over your existing telephone line on a single pair of copper telephone lines. DSL technology allows data transmission at speeds much faster than the best available analog and digital modems.

Q: Do I need another telephone line to get Qwest DSLTM services?

A: No. You don't need to purchase another telephone line. DSL technology uses an existing telephone line to transmit data signals as well as voice signals. You must continue to pay the current charges for residential or business telephone service in addition to DSL line charges.

Q: Is DSL technology a better alternative than cable modems or the new line of 56 Kbps analog modems?

A: Yes. Cable modems and the 56 Kbps modem technology may be attractive solutions for the more infrequent Internet users. These users may find that a shared and slower connection is acceptable. DSL technologies provide a dedicated networking solution to large and small businesses and to home users who have a need for a fast connection.

Q: How do I know which DSL modem I need?

A: When you place your order with an opus:interactive DSL Consultant, you will answer a series of questions pertaining to your computer. Based on the answers to these questions, we will help you determine which modem is suited to your computer.

Q: Is the 18,000 feet (3.4 miles) distance limit based on the length of cable between the Central Office or Remote Terminal?

A: The distance limit is based on the length of cable from the telephone companies Central Office (CO) or Remote Terminal (RT) to your location. Telephone cable does not always follow road contours so you cannot reliably judge the distance by driving the route you think the cable takes. The only way to determine for sure if you are within the distance limit is to fill out a DSL service order form.

Q: Can I hook up more then one computer using opus:interactive's DSL?

A: Yes. opus:interactive does not charge extra for multiple users on the same DSL line.
